Friday 13th, lucky in love?

Thought I’d check out why some folk might be in irrational fear of these 24 hours & it’s all a bit odd, LOL.
There are a variety of apparent connections with roots both in religion & politics. One powerful masonic reference is to the fascinating Knights Templar, 100s of them were arrested in France on Friday 13 October 1307 falsely charged with heresy, immorality and abuses. They were bad boys, but so interesting. Jesus is said to have died on a Friday, legend also says that if 13 people sit at a table to dine, one will die within the year.
In Greece & Spain the date of fear is Tuesday 13th. Wedding couples always feel so relieved that I never planned Corfu marriages on a Friday 13th, but were unaware of the look of fear on locals when ceremony dates fell on Tuesday 13th. Ignorance is sometimes bliss.

You know when you get that spare second in your life and remember to do something that you’ve been meaning to do for ages.
And you know when you get that really weird feeling if you have ever Googled yourself!?
Well I’ve just done both, right now.
I am happily chuffed to bits as “Corfu Celebrant” brings me up @ number 2 & 3, of only 3 so that makes me a bit unique.
Which is nice.
It’s just all good news…

Mr Blue Sky

The Corfu sky is a totally different blue to the paler Indian version, it’s a beautiful, clear, deep colour. Easter comes first I know, but gathering flowers for a May 1st wreath is a delight. Finding a field of cornflowers one Corfiot spring, is a lovely memory of the wonderful nature of this island.
Blue hues are quite a spring colour here; tiny grape hyacinth; delicate honesty; sweet violets; scented rosemary; soft mallow & bristley borage.
Cornflowers are my favourite, the blue gems featured in my glorious wedding bouquet. Nick’s been reminding me…19 years ago! Tempus fugit.
Marital Bliss and Madness

Organising weddings on a Greek island for my dear country men and women, the great British Joe Public – the stories I have are about to be told.
They range from tearful, fabulous, tragic, hilarious, dreadful, joyful and chaotic to stories of utter toe curling embarrassment. Believe me.
Previously no-one had ever stuck the job for more that one summer. Perhaps that’s why it was easier to simply call the person in that role – “weddings” than try to remember their name, hence aka “weddings’.
Was I mad?
Most probably and certainly I became even more so. Remarkably, I made it through eight summers and more than 200 weddings before they brought in the wedding white straight jacket.
Without these great memories and experiences, meeting such brilliant folk in that time, I would not be where I am today.
I raise my glass and toast the brides and grooms of Corfu!
